The City of Hartwell Fire Department is NOT INVOLVED in any calendar fundraiser or any other fundraiser. If anyone comes to you saying they represent us, This is not True. The Hart County Fire Department is promoting this calendar fundraiser and they can be reached at 706-376-8515 for verification of individuals going around collecting money and not us.
The City of Hartwell is moving away from the old Outdoor Weather Sirens and recommends everyone sign up for the free service of CodeRed through Hart County 911. This is a more reliable means to notify everyone of Severe Weather. There are several other Apps that are excellent as well like: Hart County Sheriff's App, Fox Carolina App, WYFF App, WSPA App, Fox 5 Weather App and WSB App. These Weather Sirens are not designed to be heard inside a home. Just to alert you when outside to seek shelter inside. The system is a 48 volt battery powered system and if one battery is weak or fails, the whole system fails. The system was manually activated by a firefighter every three minutes by clicking a computer screen. If we were out on calls, no one activated the sirens.
