The Department protects the incorporated city limits of the lakeside town of Hartwell. A charming little city of just under 5,000 population on beautiful Lake Hartwell.
What We Do
All of our personnel are NPQ FF2 certified and GFSTC Certified Firefighters. Personnel respond to all types of Fires, Explosions, Hazardous Conditions like power lines down & fuel spills, Fire Alarm & Fire Sprinkler System activations, Persons in Distress, Helicopter Landing Zone setup, Hazardous Materials Responses and Water related calls.
The department responds as medical assistance alongside the Hart County EMS. The department has 5 Paramedics, 4 Advanced EMT's, 8 Basic EMT's, 8 First Responders/EMR and all others are trained in CPR/AED/First Aid.
Our personnel respond and perform Vehicle Extrication, Machinery Extrication, Trench Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Elevator Rescue, Structural Collapse Rescue, Swift & Surface Water Rescue, High-Angle Rope and Low-Angle Rope Rescue.
Our personnel respond to all Natural Disasters to include Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Tropical Storms, Ice Storms, Severe Weather Event, Floods, and Earthquakes. The Department recommends citizens and visitors to enroll with CodeRed through our 911 center to receive Severe Weather Alerts and notifIcations.
The Fire Marshal's Office enforces the Life Safety Code, Fire Code and the Georgia Accessibility Code. Our personnel conduct all fire investigations, review plans for fire compliance, inspect commercial kitchen hood systems, and conduct hazard assessments. *Alan Daniel is the Fire Marshal *Casey Robinson is the Deputy Fire Marshal *Jonathan Miller is a Fire Investigator
Through the Community Risk Reduction Division, our personnel conduct fire safety education classes, conduct pre-fire plans at our local businesses, conduct station tours, set up department display booths at events and teach CPR classes.
